Nov. 16, 2001 Robotech Masterpiece Veritech Details Revealed!

After several months of silence, Toynami has finally released some exciting news about its progress on the Masterpiece collection.  The new Masterpiece Veritechs have gone through many additional enhancements since its debut at the San Diego Comicon earlier this year.  

Some of the new features include:  

  • Revision to 1/55 scale rather than 1/65 scale

  • Sturdy die-cast metal and plastic construction- diecast content will be approximately 30%

  • Full transformation from Veritech -Gerwalk -Fighter, without requiring extra parts to transform

  • LED light in the Veritech's eye visor, with power switch and battery hatch

  • Rubber tires on the landing-gear wheels

  • Opening cockpit with removable pilot

  • Optional cockpit heatshield

  • Detachable cockpit ladder

  • Ball-jointed hands with finger articulation

  • Wing-mountable missiles

  • Telescoping gunpod

  • Book-style collector's box with gold-foil, magnetic clasp, sliding tray and original artwork

The Robotech Masterpiece Collection Volume One: Rick Hunter's VF-1J is scheduled to be released in March 2002 as part of a series of five volumes.   There will be 10,000 pieces produced for each volume.  Each Veritech will include a certificate of authenticity and a production number.

 "Rick's VF-1J will be the most accurate representation of the Veritech fighter ever created in three dimensions," states George Sohn, President of Toynami.

Five volumes will be produced for the Masterpiece Collection in all:

- Volume 1: Rick Hunter's VF-1J
- Volume 2: Ben Dixon's brown VF-1A.
- Volume 3: Roy Fokker's VF-1S, also known as Skull Leader
- Volume 4: Max Sterling's blue VF-1J.
- Volume 5: Miriya Sterling's red VF-1J.

The following volumes will be released on a bimonthly basis, following the initial release of Volume 1.

The Valkyrie Exchange will be offering preorders of the Masterpiece Veritechs in the coming weeks.  Prices and official release dates will be announced soon!
